The unabashed confection which is the first single and music video from Taylor Swift's TS7 marks a return to form. While it doesn't draw on her country roots, it's a celebration of her good-girl, bubbly, and decidedly "uncool" persona - which her last album sought to eschew - that indicates that the old Taylor isn't dead, after all.
"ME!’ is a song about embracing your individuality and really celebrating it, and owning it. I think that with a pop song, we have the ability to get a melody stuck in people’s heads, and I want it to be one that makes them feel better about themselves," Swift said when announcing the single's title in an interview with Good Morning America yesterday.
The music video - a pastel wonderland, reminiscent of the set of NBC's The Good Place - features everything from a snake that turns into a butterfly, unicorns on top of buildings, and raining slime. Oh and Brendon Urie and Swift speak French, too.
