Salma Hayek proudly shows off gray hairs in makeup-free selfie

While most of us expect to turn grey in our later years, it almost always comes as a surprise. But while previous generations strove to cover up any silver growth, we've seen more and more people embrace their greys on social media lately. And actress and renowned beauty, Salma Hayek, just provided the most recent example of this.

Hayek took to Instagram to post a gorgeous makeup-free selfie, where her grey hairs were on display. But rather than cover them up, or wax lyrical about missed hair appointments, the 52-year-old chose to flaunt them.

"#Proud of my white hair," the actress captioned the photo, which sees her standing outside, and positively glowing.

Hayek's nine million Instagram followers were all for the candid content. The majority couldn't help but comment on the fact that they hoped to look even "half as good" as she does when they're at her age. "You’ve earned [the white hair]," one social media user wrote, while another corroborated "They’re experience strands!"

"You’re freaking gorgeous. I’d date you in a heartbeat," a third wrote.

Back in 2017, the Frida actress opened up to The Edit about the one thing she hates most about getting older. "The worst part of the aging process has been my eyes," she told the publication.

However, she was quick to clarify that it wasn't due to vanity; "Not the wrinkles – the eyes themselves. I’m such a visual person and (now) I cannot read without depending on glasses. … It has been really, really sad."

"The eyes, for me, that’s worse than the menopause," she added.

One thing that she has always been accepting of, though, are her famous curves. "I’m not going to lie to you, I would like the curve to go in instead of out in some places, but I love a little curve," Hayek explained. "I love the word ‘curvy.’ It’s artistic. A straight line can be boring."

The ageing process has also provided her with ample fresh insight, namely that "Being present and being inspired, especially by simple things," is a key to happiness.

My biggest ambition now is to become an organized person," she continued. "It might seem like nothing, but I’m telling you, I’ve been trying it for 50 years and I still can’t do it."

But regardless, Hayek still has bad days just like the rest of us.

"When I’m unhappy, sometimes I become a b*tch. Sometimes I drink a beer. It works," she joked to The Edit. " Sometimes I take a bath. … Another thing that helps is music. I like all kinds. I also meditate. I breathe. But first, I become a b*tch"

Well, it's good to know that it isn't just us, Salma. And good on you for embracing those perfectly natural - and gorgeous - greys!
