Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin reveal they were celibate before marriage in revealing interview

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin hopped aboard the high-speed betrothal train back in November, and since then, they've done a stellar job at seeming loved up.

But given recent revelations, it appears this may be more lust-fuelled than anything. Yes, it appears that 2019 has it's answer to Britney Spears and Justin Bieber, in that Justin and Hailey were reportedly celibate prior to tying the knot.

Speaking to Vogue in his first interview in two years, the Sorry singer opened up about his relationship with sex.

"God doesn’t ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff," he told the publication. "He’s like, 'I’m trying to protect you from hurt and pain'".

"I think sex can cause a lot of pain. Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough. Because they lack self-worth. Women do that, and guys do that," he continued.

Justin then went onto disclose that he had been celibate for over a year prior to June 2018, when he and his model wife are believed to have rekindled their romance.

"I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul, and I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result. There are perks. You get rewarded for good behaviour."

The couple did admit, however, that abstaining from sex partially explained their whirlwind engagement, but were quick to stress that it was the intensity of their feelings that was ultimately responsible for leading them to the alter.

"When I saw her last June, I just forgot how much I loved her and how much I missed her and how much of a positive impact she made on my life," Justin explained. "I was like, Holy cow, this is what I’ve been looking for'."
The 24-year-old then addressed his religious beliefs. "I wouldn’t consider myself religious, that confuses a lot of people because they’re like, well you go to church," he asserted.

"I believe in the story of Jesus – that’s the simplicity of what I believe. But I don’t believe in all the religious elitism and pretentiousness... I get sensitive when religion comes up because it’s been so hurtful to a lot of people. I don’t want to be thought of as someone who stands for any of the injustice that religion has done and does do."

But while the pair espouse this loved-up image, they admitted that they knew that marriage was "always going to be hard", and that they're not living some kind of "magical fantasy".

Hailey and Justin first met in 2009, and had an on-and-off relationship for a number of years before announcing their engagement in July of last year. They publicly announced that they were married on Instagram back in November.
