Kendall Jenner responds to comments about having acne at the Golden Globes

So the Golden Globes happened this weekend and it was a pretty inspirational affair. But it was more than just about the movies this year, with most attendees using the popular event to raise important points on gender equality on stage during speeches, and by taking part in the anti-harassment #TimesUp movement by donning all-black outfits on the red carpet.

One attendee keen to get in on showing solidarity and paying tribute to the effort was super-celeb Kendall Jenner, who attended the awards night wearing a gigantic black ballgown. “I’m excited to be there for the cause,” she told Vogue.

In an Instagram post from the night, Kendall wrote, "my eyes were opened and my heart is full seeing all of the men and women who were a part of this vital change! I too stand with all women. #TimesUp".

But... some people didn't really care that the superstar was helping take part in this monumental movement. In fact, they were more concerned with something far less important – a few blemishes on her skin.

She was shamed by haters online, who apparently thought it appalling that she actually left the house and walked a red carpet in front of paps with her cluster of spots.

But not everyone was as absurdly sensitive about it, with one fan writing on Twitter: "Ok but @KendallJenner showing up and strutting her acne while looking like a gorgeous star is what every girl needs to understand".

And the starlet herself replied, writing "never let that shit stop you!" And she added the cool-dude-with-shades emoji, naturally.

Her "whatever" attitude kicked all the negativity to the curb and showed the world that she's confident no matter what her skin's doing right now. Who cares if you get spots because, err, everyone does, and it shouldn't stop you from going about your business as usual. I mean, just because she's a celebrity doesn't mean she's magically exempt from getting blemishes and it especially doesn't mean she needs to hide them and deny that she ever gets acne.

Her response to the hate had the whole word singing a resounding "YASSS" and taking to Twitter to voice their respect for the star.

It seems a lot of people could relate to the model, having experienced their own bouts of rebellious pimples. I mean, only a select few genetic-lottery-winning types make it through puberty without experiencing acne.

Kendall's been open about her skin before, writing on her old blog: "I had such bad acne when I was younger. It completely ruined my self-esteem – I wouldn't even look at people when I talked to them. I felt like such an outcast; when I spoke, it was with my hand covering my face."

"Even after things started to clear up, it took a solid amount of time to be okay with my skin and gain back my confidence. I realized that it's a part of life for some people and it doesn't define who you are."

No, it doesn't. And that's why her response to recent comments is so important.
