Meghan Markle's favourite cheat meal proves she's just like us

Meghan Markle transcended all class boundaries last month and became a member of the royal family. The erstwhile actress snapped up Britain's most eligible bachelor in a beautiful ceremony which was held at St. George's Chapel in Windsor - and naturally - all eyes were on the bride.

From analysing Meghan's rather divisive gown - Givenchy by way of Clare Waight Keller - to keeping tabs on all her symbolic accoutrements - the late Princess Diana's aquamarine ring was her "something blue" - even the skeptics found themselves pulled into royal wedding fever.

And it shows no signs of dying down. We've heard a myriad of reports regarding the now-Duke and Duchess of Sussex's honeymoon, and we know all about the royal training that Meghan is purportedly set to receive.

Now, we have word on what Meghan - who for all intents and purposes is a princess in our minds - likes to chow down on during her cheat days.

While she may have just joined the royal family, and has the world's finest chefs and restaurants at her disposal, Meghan Markle has proven to be decidedly down to earth when it comes to her eating habits.

According to the Sun, the 36-year-old has a go-to cheat meal which conclusively proves that she's a girl after our own hearts. Certainly, while you'd expect the newly appointed Duchess of Sussex to be living on a diet of caviar and foie gras, she actually prefers to indulge in some poutine, which is essentially chips and gravy.

As could be expected, Meghan's diet and lifestyle is largely healthy. Speaking to Delish back in 2016, the former Suits actress revealed that she kick starts her day by drinking hot water with lemon, accompanied with a bowl of oatmeal with bananas and agave syrup. However, she's been spotted eating acai bowls with berries, bee pollen and manuka honey, if you want to replicate her morning brekkie, and are feeling a little indulgent.

She's also a big believer in keeping company with the right people. In an interview with Chalkboard magazine, Meghan asserted that the easiest way to improve your health is to "surround yourself with people who live a healthy lifestyle… it rubs off."

"As I’m getting older, my approach to ageing is quite different [..] I take care of my skin and body," she continued. "And I don’t just take care of myself for aesthetic reasons, but because how I feel is dictated by what I’m eating, how much rest I’m getting and how much water I’m drinking."

Well, if last month's nuptials are anything to go by, Meghan's diet and exercise routine has certainly paid off. Still, it's heartening to hear that the newest member of the royal family likes to indulge in some poutine from time to time.
