Taylor Swift reveals she hit rock bottom after Kim Kardashian called her a 'snake' on social media

From her sweet country girl vibe à la Fearless, to the merciless killing of her aforementioned persona (the old Taylor is dead, didn't you know?) it's evident that Taylor Swift doesn't do things by halves. She doesn't just have a group of friends, she has a "squad", and instead of making covert jabs at her exes, she dedicates entire tracks to them - just ask Harry Styles.

But behind all the controversy, it's apparent that there's a real girl under there somewhere. And that girl has feelings. 

In a new column for Elle magazine, Swift took aim at Kim Kardashian, accusing her of inciting an "online hate campaign" against her following their very public 2016 feud.

Although she refused to address the reality television star by name, the 29-year-old made it very clear who she was speaking about when she stated that she hit rock bottom after someone called her a "snake" on social media.

"A few years ago, someone started an online hate campaign by calling me a snake on the internet," she detailed in the April issue of the publication. "The fact that so many people jumped on board with it led me to feeling lower than I’ve ever felt in my life."

Kardashian famously branded Swift a snake in 2016 after her husband, Kanye West, called the singer "that b*tch" in his song Famous - something that Swift wasn't pleased about.

West was quick to assert that he had sought Swift's approval - something which she denied. Kardashian then came to the rapper's defence, and released videos of phone conversations between the pair which indicate that not only had Swift been aware of the lyric, but agreed to it being included in the track too.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star accordingly took to social media to say that National Snake Day was a fitting holiday for the 1989 singer.

Ouch.

In the article, Swift says that she considered quitting music altogether, before deciding to reclaim the snake as inspiration for her most recent album, Reputation. "I learned that disarming someone’s petty bullying can be as simple as learning to laugh," she continued. "I can’t tell you how hard I had to keep from laughing every time my 63-foot inflatable cobra named Karyn appeared onstage in front of 60,000 screaming fans."

And in what can only be read as a direct reference to Kardashian, Swift concluded: "It would be nice if we could get an apology from people who bully us but maybe all we’ll ever get is the satisfaction of knowing I could survive it, and thrive in spite of it."

Kardashian, on the other hand, seems to believe everything is peachy between her and Swift. During her appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, she simply said "I feel like we’ve all moved on" when questioned on the matter.
