The Simple Hack That Will Stop Your Tights From Ever Ripping Again

Wearing tights is a tricky business. Sure, they can look great, they're lifesavers in winter, and there's plenty of styles to chose from, but no matter how thick your buy them, there's always a pretty high risk of them ripping. Sometimes, all it takes is an innocuous catch on a chair to "nick" them, creating a long ladder which ruins your outfit completely.

But what if I told you that there's a way to stop this happening completely? You probably wouldn't believe me, such is the extent of the problem, but as a seasoned tight wearer, I can assure you that it works - and it will change your winter wardrobe for the better, ensuring that you're never caught out by a nick again - saving money to boot.

To avoid ripping your tights, simply pop them in the freezer. Yes, you read that right, the freezer.

Why? I hear you ask. Well, it's because cold temperatures will strengthen the fabric, making your tights much less likely to rip.

However, you can't just take them straight out of the packet (or your drawer) and pop them in between your boxes of frozen pizza. For this hack to work, you will need to wet them with water and then place them in a plastic bag.

Once you've done this, put them in your freezer, leave them overnight and voilà!

And yes, it should go without saying, but you will need to let them thaw before you even think about putting them on.

Oh, and if you're looking for a solution to the slightly lesser problem of your tights falling down all the time, I've got your back too. Because no one wants to be awkwardly fumbling around with them when their date's back is turned...

So what's the solution this time? Simply put on an extra pair of knickers over your tights.

While it's obviously advisable to remove them before any sexy times begin (but hey, Bridget Jones' granny pants got her quasi-relationship with Daniel Cleaver off to a good start), the slightly awkward sensation you'll feel about wearing two pairs of knickers will quickly disappear when your tights stop falling down.

For the best results, use a pair that are extra elasticated and preferably high waisted too. You'll want the additional support.

These hacks just go to show that knowledge really is power and tights don't have to be our nemesis any more!
