The terrifying trailer for 'IT: Chapter Two' is finally here

Stephen King's landmark horror novel 'It' was a huge deal at the time of publication, and has gone on to terrify readers for years. Yet even Tim Curry's portrayal of Pennywise the Clown didn't do much to save the 1990 TV movie from being a disappointment. Fortunately, 2017 brought us a fully-fledged movie starring the Losers' Club and their battle with the dark heart of their hometown - but it was only the first part of the story.

The book is around 1,300 pages long, which means there's a lot of story to get through. King's novel cuts back and forth between Ben, Bill, Stan, Richie, Bev and Eddie as children encountering Pennywise - and their return to the town as adults 27 years later. Now, rather than try and fit that all into one movie, they had the smart idea of dividing it until two parts.

Seeing these characters return as adults means a whole new cast needs to live up to the performances we got last time around. A few reveals made their way onto the internet during pre-production, before they eventually showed off the full cast at a script reading.

So we've got James McAvoy taking over the role of Bill, Jay Ryan playing Ben, Bill Hader as Richie, James Ransone as Eddie, Andy Bean as Stan, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, and Jessica Chastain as Beverley.

Now, we've been blessed with a teaser trailer for the upcoming It: Chapter Two, which promises to be as scary (if not even more so) than its predecessor.

Here's how the new castmembers compare with their younger counterparts:

James McAvoy also posted an Instagram last year confirming when they had started filming the movie, making a particularly cheesy pun about the new horror flick.

Beyond these initial teases, we also got our first glimpse of Pennywise in some on-set photos that were leaked, which were pretty creepy even without the movie magic. Bill Skarsgård, who suits up to play Pennywise in both films, spoke to Den of Geek last year about the upcoming film. Speaking about what we have in store for us, he said:

“I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be a very different experience this time around, just given the fact that you have all of these incredible, seasoned actors to play against, as opposed to having all the kids.

"So it's going to be a different experience for sure. But I'm looking forward to it."

The first entry in the series had the biggest opening ever for a movie released in the Fall, and would be the highest-earning Rated R movie if it wasn't for Deadpool and its sequel. If this one follows in its footsteps, it could make even more money and overtake the 'merc with a mouth' when it's released on September 6.
