These Pictures Of Tattooed Parents Posing With Their Babies Are Wonderfully Unique

In days gone by, a tattooed parent would have almost certainly raised a few eyebrows. But now that 36% of Americans between 18 and 29 have at least one inking, tattooed parents are becoming increasingly normal. And well they should be! Tattoos are a legitimate art form, as we recently showcased, and they should be celebrated as such.

However, when it comes to changing attitudes towards tattoos, especially tattooed parents, there is still a long way to go.

Tattoos have long been associated with criminality, and anyone who has a parent above, say, the age of 50, has most likely been told off at the very possibility of getting one. In fact, according to a national poll by the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan, a whopping 78% of parents said they wouldn't let their kids get inked.

So, in a bid to challenge these negative attitudes towards tattoos, we've compiled a list of gorgeous tattooed parents and their kids to show that just because you've got some ink on your skin, it doesn't make you any less of a person - or a parent.

Tattooed moms can embarrass their kids just as much as those without any ink.

Tattooed parents aren't afraid to express themselves - on their skin and when it comes to loving their kids.

Fun fact, the benefits of having lots of skin-to-skin contact with your baby are well documented! This is especially the case for moms, whose touch is calming and can help regulate bodily processes like breathing and heart rate.

Tattooed parents are just regular parents - despite what the generation above them might think about their body art.

Tattooed parents just showcase their love of art on their skin, and there's nothing wrong with that.

While some close-minded people might argue that tattooed parents are setting a bad example for their kids, these pictures are a testament to the fact that they only example they're setting them is love.

And, of course, promoting being yourself. Whether that means getting full sleeves down the line or donning funky glasses!

Tattooed parents give their babies everything they need to grow up to be happy, healthy and confident individuals.

And when it's their turn to grow up, tattooed parents won't have any qualms about how they chose to express themselves. Whether that's by getting some ink, or simply following dreams that more close-minded people might discourage!

So, let's raise a glass to all parents, tattooed or not, and try to be a little less judgemental of other people's decisions.
