This actor's sexist tweet about Ariana Grande is getting major backlash on Twitter

Ariana Grande has got it covered - she doesn't need any sympathy sent her way, or any more idle chatter about her former relationships - or at least, that's what her latest single, 'thank u, next', would have you believe.

The track, which has been dubbed the anti-cuffing anthem of the season, sees Ariana break away from tried-and-true tropes surrounding breakups. Rather, she's chosen to embrace love, patience, and her newfound knowledge of how to handle pain ("that sh*t’s amazing") - with the intention to forge ahead with the most important relationship of them all: the one she has with herself.

One person who doesn't seem to have got the memo, however, is actor Michael Rapaport.

The actor, who has appeared in the likes of Friends, Prison Break and Atypical, is getting majorly trolled on Twitter for making sexist remarks about Ariana Grande.

Last night, he tweeted a photo as promotion for his podcast, and captioned it "Ariana Grande is 27 acts 12, you take off those boots she hides her legs in, the cat eye make up and the genie pony tale and I think there’s hotter women working the counter at Starbucks no disrespect to Starbucks."

Naturally, the people of the internet were not best pleased.

"Bro, WTF?" One Twitter user wrote, "Why? I mean, just why? Why say something so irrelevant, untrue and unnecessarily cruel about someone you’ve never even met? C’mon man. Be better."

Another pointed out the fact that society places impossible beauty standards on young women: "Another old man telling a young woman her worth only resides in her looks and tells her it’s not enough."

Rapaport, who by this point had cottoned onto all the hate he was receiving, issued a response.

"When I talk vicioulsy about The Leader of the Free World aka Dick Stain Donald Trump or Tiki Torch Tough Guys in Virginia, I'm a Social Media HERO, but a joke about Ariana Grande is SHAMING. EAT Dwycks SnowFlakes. Stay Disruptive Stay Disruptive [sic]," he wrote.

"I can say ANYTHING about Cockeyed Kellyanne, Laura Ingram,Melania,Ivanka or Candance Owens & you little Hipster Fake Pussy Power Hat Wearing MoFo’s get hype. Elation. Talk shit about Arianna Grande & I hate Women?" he continued.

Ariana has yet to respond to Rapaport's comments, but last month she slammed Piers Morgan for criticising Little Mix for the sexual nature of their image.

"Also @piersmorgan, i look forward to the day you realize there are other ways to go about making yourself relevant than to criticize young, beautiful, successful women for everything they do. i think that’ll be a beautiful thing for you and your career or what’s left of it," she wrote on Twitter.
