Woman urges mums to 'try a little' with their looks while doing the school run and people are seriously angry

In a post #MeToo world, you'd think that people would be more cautious when it comes to talking about how women choose to express their femininity, and how they conduct themselves. Certainly, while men are praised for celebrating their bodies, and their sexual conquests; women are expected to conform to near-impossible conceptions of beauty, but remain objects, rather than subjects of their sexuality.

But this isn't all - women are also shamed by other women - especially when it comes to motherhood. Case in point: a mum has taken to Facebook to urge other mothers to "try a little" with their appearance while they are doing the school run.

As we know, a school drop off is run like a military operation. There's all the attempts to rouse the little angles from bed, and of course, the daily battle that occurs over breakfast. Then there's the question of whether they have their PE kit, their lunch box, or whatever arts project they've been working on.

Between this, one thing that definitely isn't on most parent's checklist is whether they've applied a sufficient amount of makeup.

So naturally, people were pretty incensed when this post turned up on their Facebook newsfeeds...

"I know this is stirring up some haters so whatever. Sorry if this hits close to home. Ladies, even if you aren't getting out of the car at drop off can you try a little," the mother in question wrote.

"I look around as I'm walking my daughter to the front door and all we see is rat nest hair, no makeup, eyebags out to wherever and I'm not [100 emoji] but I think I smell morning breath coming from these cars. Damn," she continued.

"My daughter said to me, 'mommy you are so pretty. My friends mommies all look so old. I'm so proud of you and that you are my mommy'.

On the real, if my seven-year-old daughter can see you aren't even trying what is your husband thinking? Take some pride."

Obviously, this enraged just about every mother out there. "My husband is thinking “thanks, wife, for dropping the kid off at school so I don’t have to?" one social media user wrote in the comments, while another added "Some days my husband looks at me and says, “Damn, why do you look so good today?” And I reply, “I showered.” Set the bar low, ladies and it doesn’t take much to impress him..."

Others pointed out the double standard that exists between men and women in this regard;

"And like, just for the record, my husband also isn't putting concealer on for the drop off line, but I don't judge him it's called marriage and it's about loving the face your spouse was born with."

This comment, however, really took the cake: "I drove my kid to the bus stop in a sloth onesie with nothing underneath several days in a row."

To each their own, eh?
