Woman Uses $130 Worth Of Pennies To Tile Her Floor, But People Are Left Seriously Confused

It never ceases to amaze me just how exceptionally creative some people are. Perhaps it's mainly to do with the fact that I, in comparison, don't have a creative bone in my body. Well, at least not when it comes to anything remotely related to art, design, and crafts.

But there are some people out there who can transform things that are seemingly mundane into a striking work of art. Imgur user TonyaTooners is the epitome of such a person.

She turned her extensive stash of pennies into an impressive piece of home décor. We know little about the talented Imgur user but based on the coins she used, she is most likely from the US. And she used her Imgur account to post pictures of the creative process in its entirety.

So why did TonyaTooners decide to take on such an arduous task in the first place? Well, she had grown to dislike her old laminate floor and decided it had to be replaced. But rather than get a handyman to do that for her, she wanted to get the job done herself.

And to do that, she would need to get $130 worth of pennies (in other words, a whopping 13,000 pennies) from her bank.

As you can imagine, carrying that amount in pennies is no mean feat. In fact, the Imgur user had no choice but to carry it home in three canvas sacks.

She started off the elaborate process by simply separating the darker pennies from the lighter ones. TonyaTooners initially focused on the middle of the room where she started glueing down a small portion of the pennies in the style of a checkerboard.

Most of the floor was decorated in this style. But at the borders, she decided to switch it up a little and began glueing the coins down in a zigzag pattern.

At a later point in the process, TonyaTooners realised she wouldn't have enough of the darker pennies to complete the pattern she had settled on. She solved the problem with sulfur gel which gave some of the lighter pennies a darker hue.

Finally, she decided to seal the entire floor with the epoxy clear coat she had purchased from her local hardware store.

TonyaTooners was very precise about the way in which each of the coins was positioned and ensured that Abraham Lincoln was always facing the right.

But when some people heard that the Imgur user had used a staggering 13,000 pennies to bring her project to fruition, they decided this was too hefty an expense.

The thing is, though, quite a few people seemed to confuse 13,000 pennies with 13,000 dollars not realising it actually amounted to $130.

The math here is legitimately blowing people's minds!

Of course, not everyone is born the creative genius that TonyaTooners evidently is. But save a few pennies, and you never know what you could make from it - perhaps a much more low-key version of TonyaTooners' incredible new home décor.
